Mr. Marazzi asked if there was anyone in the student government that participated in the Model UN club and Mr. Thomas Falcigno raised his hand. All though this conference is cheaper than last year, he was asking for this donation in hopes that he would not have to come to student government next year asking for more money. He also stated that the student has been helpful to the MUN club in the past and that the request made last year was lower than the request being made now. He also mentioned that the club does not exactly know how much the conference will cost but estimates that it will be over $1000.00.

1. Amity Model United Nations Funding Request
10/26/11
To: The Members of The Amity High School Student Government
Dear Amity High School Student Government,
The Amity Model United Nations Club writes this letter to ask for a donation of $500.00 from the Amity High School Student Government. One of the Student Government’s many roles at Amity is to provide funding for clubs if they seek this funding. The Amity Student Government has done an excellent job in fulfilling this role. The Student Government has fulfilled this role for the Amity Model United Nations Club in the past as well.
This year, we have planned to attend a Model United Nations Conference at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire in March. Although we have already done a significant amount of fundraising, the amount that it costs to pay will be considerably more than we have in our account if you include registration, transportation, and lodging. The club has also seen a significant increase in members and therefore, would like to do our best in taking more delegates than the eight we usually take every year. The club will still plan on doing it’s regular fundraising like bake sales, etc., but a donation from the Student Government will take a huge weight off our shoulders.
Therefore, we are requesting a $500.00 donation from The Amity High School Student Government. We thank you advance for your consideration and we encourage you to pass this funding request. Thank You.
Sincerely,
The Amity High School Model United Nations
John Lopez-Villa, Co-President
Katie Becker, Co-President
Thomas Falcigno, Treasurer
Miles Halpine, Secretary
2. Strings Class Funding Request
Mr. Marazzi,
The Strings Class is requesting a $250.00 donation to fund an upcoming UCONN trip to play with the UCONN Band. This money would be to pay for the transportation of the trip. We encourage passage of this request and thank you for your consideration.
