Amity High School Student Government Meeting Minutes                                  October 3, 2011

A regular monthly meeting of the Amity High School Student Government was held on October 3rd of 2011 at 7:00 P.M. in the Lecture Hall.

1. Mr. Marazzi called the meeting to order at 7:14 P.M.

2. 84 members were recorded as present on the roll call.

3. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by those present.

4. Swearing In Executive Board Members and Freshman Members

The elected Executive Board Members were sworn in with the oath of office being read by Mr. Marazzi. The freshman class council members were also sworn in with President Tricia Coffey reading the oath of office.

5. Corresponding Secretary Report

No Report

6. Student Government Treasury Report

Treasurer Sarah Giovanniello reported that $6,129.29 was currently in the treasury.

7. Senior Class Council Report

The senior class reported that they are currently without officers but will be holding elections next week.

8. Junior Class Council Report

The junior class reported that they had held elections and Eliza Dillaway was elected president, Zhang Liu was elected vice president, and elected secretary was Tova Trellevik. The position of treasurer is currently still undecided.

9. Sophomore Class Council Report

The Sophomore Class reported that they would be holding their elections this Friday.

New Business

10. Homecoming, Pep Rally, and Spirit Committees

Student Government President Tricia Coffey spoke about the three committees and asked all members to join at least one committee.

Motion to recess from the meeting to break up into Homecoming, Pep Rally, and Spirit Week Committees (7:29) Alex Marieb, 2nd David Sampoli  

Vote in favor unanimous.

Motion to return to the regular Student Government Meeting (7:45) Sarah Gans, 2nd Cara Slugaski

Vote in favor unanimous.

11. Principal’s Committee

Secretary Thomas Falcigno explained the Principal’s Committee and asked two or three members from each class to sign up. The purpose of these meetings is to bring issues that are directly related to the school to the principal to discuss. The principal’s committee meets about once every month.

12. Board of Education Committee

Secretary Thomas Falcigno explained his position on the Board of Education. He currently serves as Student Representative to the Board of Education. His job is to update the board on what the student government is doing as well as activities going on in the school. Thomas has asked members of the student government to help out with his job.

13. Open Forum

President Tricia Coffey reminded members of our next meeting on November 7th.
